Hard Anodizing is a process that is used to give extremely hard surfaces to aluminum that rival tool steel. After the process, the surface can be as hard as Rockwell 70. Dimensions of the part does change by approximately .001-.002 per surface, so make sure that you have allowed for the change in dimensions.
Hard anodizing is used where you have surfaces that are subject to severe wear. The part can also be teflon coated to give lubricity to the surface
Different alloys will have different colors after hard anodizing and can be from a gray to a greenish color. Most alloys will take hard anodizing ,but ,call if you have questions.
